CoolLipoTM is the first and only laser-assisted lipolysis system to offer a revolutionary and minimally invasive procedure for the removal of fat and tightening of the skin. Using a high-powered laser, CoolLipoTM is a new procedure with less down time and side effects than traditional liposuction. The technique is now considered the safest form of body sculpturing for removing small to very large amounts of fat because it is an in-office “awake” procedure. There is also minimal to no pain or blood loss and it produces improved cosmetic results over plain liposuction. Dr. Sandra Lotstein has trained extensively to offer CoolLipo and is having great results with the procedure. How does it work?CoolLipo uses different sizes of wands containing a laser fiber to liquefy the fat. A small wand is used for smaller areas (jowls, neck, male breasts (gynecomastia), knees and other small fatty areas) and a larger wand for bigger areas (stomach, arms, inner and outer thighs, back fat). The wand is held like a violin bow and moved gently back and forth in the skin (not in the rugged fashion associated with traditional liposuction). The CoolLipo is different than other models in that it does not just rely upon this liquefying of the fat for the skin retraction, but the specific laser fiber used allows the skin to stimulate collagen and further tighten the area after the fat is removed. Because general anesthesia is unnecessary, there are few side effects, minimal swelling and very little, if any, bruising. Who would be a good candidate for this procedure?If you have dieted and exercised and still have fat that has not responded, you would be a perfect candidate. Normal body weight individuals with realistic expectations are the best candidates. People that have a lot of excess skin, but do not want an invasive surgery such as an abdominalplasty done will also see tightening of the area of concern. If a person doesn't have fat but wants tightening, can this be done without the Liposuction?Yes, if you have no fat in an area but just want tightening, CoolLipo is perfect for this. CoolLipo is the only system that offers the dual mode! Areas such as chicken skin on arms or back of arms (triceps and bicep areas), inner thighs, stomach, jaw line, neck and buttock droop are all areas that respond well to just tightening. No other Laser can do this! How many treatments are necessary?Usually just one CoolLipoTM treatment is necessary. Sessions last for 45 min. to 2 hours depending on how many areas and how much fat or tightening is needed. Up to three areas can be done at one time; however, since there is no general anesthesia used, it is fine to return shortly to have other areas done. What type of aftercare is necessary?For jowls and neck, it is usually necessary to wear a head support band for a few days. With other areas a lightweight garment is usually suggested for up to a week and later changed to a “body shaper” like LeggsTM or SpanksTM for another week. After the treatment there is basically no pain and minimal bruising. It just feels like the ache after an intense workout. One to two days downtime with no intense activity is suggested. You can return to work the next day if you don’t have a strenuous job. What can I expect in regards to cellulite?We have seen amazing results for cellulite or stretch marks with the CoolLipo’s additional tightening mode.
